The Regis Rally - 24 October
With the Cloverleaf rally cancelled, The Regis, based in West Sussex and Hampshire, was the last championship round of 2009. Despite the weather forecast, a good entry of 50 or so cars started off from Emsworth on a very damp Saturday morning. The day consisted of 6 regularity sections and 10 tests - apart from a short coffee stop in the morning and a 40-minute lunch stop (with excellent chilli!), we were on the go all day. The test venues provided a good range of challenges - short, slippy ones at Goodwood, more open runway cone tests at Tangmere, and a tight "cone-tastic" autosolo type test to finish with at South Downs College. Test of the Day had to go to a cheeky little field number just before lunch - 60-odd seconds of mud, grass, ruts, trees, more mud, humps, dips, and a bit more mud resulted in cars completely covered, toolbox contents strewn all over the boot and a lot of happy drivers.
